If I were to say the young man in this picture is now 22 years-old, and the volunteer is still a Disaster Services team member, could you begin to grasp this “Volunteer Extraordinaire’s” commitment of time and energy?
That time and energy has brought Central and Northern New York volunteer Sue Page from her beginning and current role as a Disaster Action Team (DAT) member – providing shelter, food, comfort and hope to families displaced by house fires and other disasters – to now being part of the local leadership team. Since her start as a DAT responder, Sue has taken on supervising, instructing, coordinating, helping with countless fund raisers, and numerous deployments. Those deployments included both local and national, involved in Sheltering, Mass Care and Damage Assessment.
Sue exemplifies the American Red Cross mission with this statement “The rewards I feel when we as Red Cross can help folks affected are boundless. I know Americans are willing and able to help each other as the need arises. I always feel thankful after every call.”
It is easy to see and understand why Sue Page is “Volunteer Extraordinaire.”
