This November, the American Red Cross urges donors to make and keep donation appointments to help ensure patients keep receiving critical medical care. Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with type O blood and those giving platelets.

This time of year is traditionally hard on the nation’s blood supply. Seasonal illness, winter weather and the upcoming holidays often lead to lower appointment numbers and decreased donor turnout, making it hard to keep up with the demand for blood products.

Share your good health and give patients another reason to be thankful by donating blood or platelets with the Red Cross. Your donation may give patients more time & more holidays with loved ones.

Special thank-yous:

Nov. 1-9: In thanks for helping save lives before the holiday season begins, those who come to give by Nov. 9 will get a $10 e-gift card to a restaurant merchant of choice to enjoy lunch on the Red Cross. They’ll also be automatically entered to win a $5,000 gift card. There will be three lucky winners, one each week. Details are available at RedCrossBlood.org/Lunch.

Nov. 10-30: In honor of the 20th Anniversary of the film “Elf,” the Red Cross is inviting donors to create holiday cheer for themselves and others by giving blood or platelets.
