Spring has sprung, which means time for cleaning, decluttering, and freshening up our homes. If you’re in the spring cleaning spirit, there are a few simple ways you can support the Red Cross, just by getting rid of old things!

Donate a Vehicle

Do you have an old car, truck, SUV, van, RV, boat, or motorcycle that’s taking up space in your garage? In partnership with Insurance Auto Auctions (IAA), the Red Cross now offers a cost-free way to dispose of your unwanted vehicle while getting a tax deduction.

The vehicle donation process is simple for donors, and averages just 30 days from start to finish. All you have to do is contact IAA. You can do this in 1 Easy Step online, or you can call 1-855-92RC CAR (1-855-927-2227) to get started. IAA will pick up your vehicle at your convenience, and at no cost to you. You’ll receive a tax acknowledgement letter and your vehicle will be sold to benefit the Red Cross.

This program accepts vehicles in almost any condition, whether they can be driven or not. And it’s not limited to cars and trucks – you can donate snowmobiles, jet skis, heavy equipment, farm equipment, tractors and more.

Donate Clothing & Household Goods

GreenDrop is a service that allows partner charities like the Red Cross to convert your lightly used clothing and household items into critical dollars to help people in need. You can select the American Red Cross as your charity of choice when you schedule a GreenDrop pick-up or drop off unneeded items at a GreenDrop location in participating markets.

The value of the items you donate represents a tax-deductible donation to the American Red Cross. On top of that, using GreenDrop extends the life of your unwanted items, making a difference for the environment in addition to making a charitable donation! Whether an item finds a second home from a thrift store shopper or is recycled and re-purposed for a different use – you are helping to keep it green!
