Al served the Red Cross on both his local chapter board of directors as well as the board of directors for the NY-Penn Blood Region. What’s most amazing about Al’s time as a volunteer is the legacy of service he has inspired.

Al not only dedicated many of his own years to our lifesaving mission, he also encouraged his son, Alfred Candido Jr., his granddaughter, Brandi Candido, and his great granddaughter, Alexis Candido, to follow in his footsteps. Led by Al Sr., four generations of the Candido family have made an enormous impact to help relieve human suffering in our community through decades of service on our board of directors.

At the 2016 Mohawk Valley Real Heroes Breakfast, Al received an award which has been named the Candido Family Legacy Award. This award will be given each year in Al’s memory to a volunteer who has inspired another to serve.

We are extremely grateful for all of the Candido family’s contributions to the Red Cross, and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
