We’re getting a head start on Valentine’s Day by highlighting some of the amazing couples throughout our region who spend some of their quality time together volunteering for the American Red Cross.

Joe and Donna Hipius of East Syracuse transport lifesaving blood from our distribution center to hospitals for patients in need. They have made dozens of trips together on behalf of the American Red Cross. “We do things together that we can’t do apart. We are complementary,” Joe explains. “We spend long hours talking and some runs are very long, and I wouldn’t want to do it on my own. Share the driving, stay alert, and volunteering together is important.”
