Our 2015-2016 Winter Warmth Project is well underway, and we’ve already received hundreds of generous donations from our community to help support local veterans in need. Thanks especially to the group behind the Morning of Kindness in the Capital Region, our shelves are stocked with new coats, hats, gloves, scarves, blankets and more to help homeless and in-need vets in our area make it through the cold winter months.1200x600

This week, we had the opportunity to welcome a group of veterans from the Albany Housing Coalition to shop our Winter Warmth supplies and gear up for the chilly days and weeks ahead. Our volunteers carefully laid out winter items in every size and style, and these veterans were able to pick out brand-new and much-needed items to call their own. The looks on their faces as they pose with their new winter gear really say it all…

There’s still time to support the Winter Warmth Project in your community.

From now through March 1, drop off NEW winter apparel and accessories at your local Red Cross office, and we’ll continue to work with partners like the Albany Housing Coalition to make sure they’re delivered to veterans in need. For more information, please visit redcross.org/winterwarmth.
